Death of 18 Afghan refugees in Bulgaria
In response to the death of 18 Afghan refugees in Bulgaria, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate has asked the citizens of the country not to risk their lives through illegal means and smuggling.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate published a newsletter saying that 18 Afghan citizens lost their lives in Bulgaria in a "bitter" incident.
 
The ministry added that 18 Afghan citizens died due to lack of oxygen and thirst, and a number of others were rescued and taken to the hospital.
 
While offering condolences to the families of the victims, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has asked the citizens of the country not to risk their lives through illegal means and smuggling.
 
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate has asked international organizations and countries to hand over human traffickers to the law.
 
The bodies of these asylum seekers were found in a truck carrying wood near Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria on Friday, February 17.
 
Bulgarian authorities have not commented on the identity of the asylum seekers; but the media of this country have reported the identity of these asylum seekers as Afghans.
 
Bulgarian police say they have arrested four suspects in connection with the death of these 18 asylum seekers.
 
According to the Bulgarian police, one of the four people arrested was previously convicted of human trafficking.
