Sayyaf warns of crisis if elections not organized on time
A former Jihadi leader and ex-member of the parliament Abdul Rab Rasool Sayyaf has warned of crisis if the elections are not organized on time.

AVA- Speaking during a gathering in Kabul, Sayyaf said it seems the government is not prepared for the upcoming elections, warning that the country could leap into crisis if the elections are not held as per the schedule.

Sayyaf also criticized the government leaders and said the nation has become frustrated with the actions of the government officials.

He accused the government of monopolizing the power and urged for immediate steps for reforms.

In the meantime, Sayyaf said he and his supporters will never support any effort to topple down the current government.

However, he said immediate steps should be taken to organize the elections on time and the election commissions must act independently to ensure a free and fair election.

The remarks by Sayyaf come as the government leaders insist that the elections will be organized on time and as per the elections schedule.

The chief executive of the unity government Abdullah Abdullah reiterated the government’s commitment during his visit to United States last month.

Speaking during a gathering in US last month, Abdullah said the government is fully committed to organize the parliamentary elections in 2018 while the presidential elections will be held in 2019.

Abdullah also added that necessary steps will be taken to ensure a free and fair election in a bid to prevent the repeat of the 2014 elections which resulted into the formation of the unity government.
