Officials in the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum said in the press conference of the "Government Accountability to the Nation" program that last year, 108 different contracts for the extraction of small mines were signed in 16 provinces with domestic investors. They add that Afghanistan will become self-sufficient in the field of cement production in the future and will export abroad as well, in which case the price of cement will be halved in Afghanistan.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: Shahabuddin Delawar, Acting Minister of Mines and Petroleum, said in the ministry's press conference in the program "Accountability of the Government to the Nation" that the previous government employees are working in this ministry and no one has been fired from this ministry based on being an employee of the previous government.
 
He added that mines are the wealth of all people, the Islamic Emirate is committed to establishing "justice, transparency and professionalism" in the mining sector, and the revenues of this ministry are used in the implementation of "fundamental and national projects" with the aim of providing facilities to the people.
 
Delavar stated that the country's mines belong to all the people of Afghanistan and it is the right of the people of Afghanistan to be used in public sectors, he assured that there will be no betrayal in this sector.
 
Acting Minister of Mines and Petroleum added that roads are not built in front of mines and mines are entrusted to the contract by the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum according to the principles, so that the proceeds are used in road construction.
 
Delaware stated that this ministry has collected and employed more than 100 professional engineers from all over the country who have studied in the field of mining for master's degree and doctorate.
 
He said that today the work in different sectors has been launched by the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, and therefore, the Ministry of Mines has also taken up the basic works for the extraction of mines.
 
He further added that the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum has laid the groundwork for attracting domestic and foreign investors in the mining sector and many meetings are held in this field every day.
 
Acting Minister of Mines and Petroleum also stated that Afghanistan will become self-sufficient in the field of cement production in the future and will also export abroad, in which case the price of cement in Afghanistan will be halved.
 
Shahabuddin Delawar said that the contract for the construction of a cement factory in Shurandam, Kandahar, in an area of 100 acres of land, has been signed, and this factory will have the capacity to produce one million tons or 20 million bushels of cement per year.
 
Delawar further added that the gold mine in Badakhshan province has an area of 75 square kilometers and in this context, he asked domestic and foreign investors to participate in its bidding.
 
Meanwhile, Homayoun Afghan, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum, said in the ministry's press conference that last year, the ministry signed 108 different contracts for the extraction of small mines in 16 provinces with domestic investors.
 
Mr. Afghan added that the activity of gold washing which was done illegally in the past, now the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum has prepared a procedure for its professional activity.
 
According to Homayoun Afghan, according to this plan, 99 gold mining areas in Takhar have been surveyed and professional permits have been given for 73 areas, and 130.7 million Afghanis have been collected in this way. Mr. Afghan also informed about the survey of 500 gold mining areas in Badakhshan.
 
Afghan continued that in order to prevent smuggling and illegal extraction of mines in 25 provinces of Afghanistan, committees have been established under the management of the directorates of this ministry in cooperation with other subordinate institutions and they prevent illegal mining.
